This is how I have thrived beyond my EoE diagnosis. No limits.

Music

I enjoy playing the piano and guitar as a way to relax. It is one of the few activities for me that doesn't bring up the stress of finding good food. I’ve been playing for 7 years now self taught and have loved every second of it. Learning new songs has become almost therapeutic for me. I have performed in multiple recitals singing and playing my instrument. I mostly perform classic rock music and occasionally jazz. Music is a perfect way to express yourself and connect with the human side of you.

Dogs

Since 2020 I have had dogs in my life. At first there were concerns that I was allergic to dogs however after a few months living with my little fluff balls no evidence of an allergic reaction occurred. I love my dogs and being an EOE patient it is remarkable that I am able to have them in my life. They have been a great support for me in trying times and they make my life more lively.

Coaching

I have been coaching gymnastics for 4 years now. It is an incredible way to connect with aspiring gymnasts and pass down my knowledge in the sport. After injuring my shoulder, coaching stood out as a great way for me to maintain my connection with the sport. I have learned a lot about leadership and tolerance through my job. Teaching will alway be one of my favorite things to do, especially with my students. I enjoy showing the kids everyday that it is possible to do what you love even if it is hard and nothing should get in the way of you following your passion.

Game Design

I have been doing game design for 3 years now through a class at school and as a side hobby. I love the artistic and mathematical elements of building video games. I have made multiple games and plan to continue making them as I pursue game design in college. I have always enjoyed playing games whether it be Minecraft when I was little or The Legend of Zelda and card games like Magic the Gathering now. I hope to create more wonderful experiences for people like myself who find video games to be one of the greatest arts in the world.

Climbing

I have been an avid rock climber now for 2 years. I have been on multiple climbing trips including a trip to Joshua Tree. It has been a great avenue for me to move my body especially after a shoulder injury a few years ago. I have progressed rapidly in my training in the past few years and achieved a one arm pullup after months of dedicated practice. I also built a climbing wall in my backyard that went between 2 trees so that I could continue practicing at home when the gym was inaccessible. I am grateful everyday to be able to workout despite my allergies.
